Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has urged stakeholders, including local assemblies, traditional leaders, and the private sector, to actively support government-led clean-up exercises.
Speaking ahead of a clean-up at Madina Market, she emphasized the need for sustained efforts to combat sanitation challenges, which contribute to the spread of diseases like cholera.
Madam Ocloo also announced that President John Mahama will soon launch a National Sanitation Day initiative to tackle waste management issues. Additionally, a Regional Sanitation Day will be observed monthly to reinforce the campaign.
She called on all sectors to embrace the initiative, stressing that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility. The Madina Market exercise forms part of a broader strategy to promote hygiene and prevent flooding.
