James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has retained his Assin North parliamentary seat in the 2024 elections, securing 56.35% (18,023 votes) against NPP's Charles Opoku, who received 42.52% (13,599 votes).
Quayson’s political career has faced challenges, including the annulment of his 2020 victory for holding dual citizenship.
Despite this, he reclaimed the seat in a June 2023 by-election.
His latest win underscores his strong support in the constituency despite opposition and legal hurdles.
