HATOF Foundation CEO honoured for climate change work at Millennium Excellence Awards

Dr. Samuel Dotse, founder and CEO of the HATOF Foundation, has received a prestigious award. He was named Laureate of Distinction in Climate Change at the 2025 Millennium Excellence Awards. The event took place at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The Millennium Excellence Foundation awarded Dr. Dotse for his contributions to climate action. His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the Life Patron of this foundation. Dr. Dotse was recognized for his work in sustainable development and environmental conservation.

He has been particularly noted for advocating biodiversity conservation and climate finance mobilization. A citation praised his influence on policy and capacity building across Ghana and beyond. It highlighted that his efforts provide hope and direction amid challenges.

During a ceremonial dinner, Dr. Dotse received a Gold Medal from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. This honor was part of the recognition for all awardees' achievements.

Dr. Samuel Dotse is an experienced climate expert with over two decades in climate policy. As CEO of HATOF Foundation, he has secured over $150 million in climate finance for Ghana's environmental issues.

He is also an accredited observer to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Additionally, he serves as Africa’s Special Envoy on Climate Change for the International Society of Diplomats. His leadership has strengthened diplomatic engagement to tackle climate change effectively.

Since its founding in 1999, HATOF Foundation has become a key player in environmental governance. The organization addresses various issues like renewable energy, conservation, and sustainable resource management.

The Millennium Excellence Awards have been held every five years since 2000. They celebrate individuals and institutions showing leadership and impact in society. This year marks the fifth edition, recognizing over 100 honorees since its inception.

As Ghana faces climate challenges, Dr. Dotse’s recognition highlights the importance of dedicated advocacy and innovation. His work inspires collaboration toward a greener future for Ghana and beyond.
