Hajj task force issues apology to stranded Ghanaian pilgrims

The National Hajj Task Force has apologized to Ghanaian pilgrims. This year, some could not attend the pilgrimage to Mecca. The Task Force said the issues were beyond their control.

The affected pilgrims faced problems with visas and travel documents. Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini spoke for the Task Force. He acknowledged the frustrations of those who could not go.

He promised improvements for future arrangements. “We will address the visa issues for those who paid,” he stated. He also apologized to all pilgrims unable to fly this year.

During the 2025 Hajj, two Ghanaian pilgrims died in Mecca. Despite challenges, around 6,000 Ghanaian pilgrims made it to Saudi Arabia. Five others were sent back due to travel document issues.

Alhaji Fuseini clarified that these individuals were not deported but repatriated. “Deportation implies criminality, which is not the case here,” he explained. The issue was an error in visa issuance.

He assured that efforts are underway to help affected individuals complete their pilgrimage. Some attempts to fix visa issues led to unfortunate mistakes, he noted. “We are working hard to get them back,” he added.
