Former Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to prioritize a comprehensive overhaul of the Electoral Commission (EC) in his "resetting agenda."
Speaking on December 24, Tetteh expressed concerns over the EC's perceived lack of neutrality and declining public confidence.
She emphasized the need for reforms to ensure the institution's independence and accountability in future elections.
Highlighting the EC's current credibility challenges, Tetteh urged the incoming administration to address systemic issues undermining governance.
“If the EC doesn’t reset, public perception of its competence and neutrality will further erode,” she warned, adding that restoring trust is crucial for credible elections.
Her remarks align with calls from stakeholders advocating for institutional reforms.
