Newly appointed Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, recently met with ministry staff to familiarize himself with his new role.
Despite not yet being sworn in, Iddrisu emphasized the need for a national dialogue on the future of education in Ghana.
He expressed the goal of resetting the sector to ensure that education from basic to tertiary levels becomes accessible, relevant, and of high quality.
Iddrisu also raised concerns about the validity of data on beneficiaries of the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme, stating his own research shows 3.9 million students, while public records suggest 5.1 million.
He called for accurate validation of the figures to guide future policy reforms.
