Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister-Designate for Education, has emphasized President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to reviewing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
During his parliamentary vetting on January 20, Iddrisu clarified that the government has no plans to abolish the policy, but intends to make it more sustainable and broaden its reach to better serve Ghanaians.
He announced plans to convene a stakeholder forum to gather recommendations for improving the initiative.
Iddrisu affirmed, "President Mahama has no intention to cancel Free SHS. His goal is to expand it, ensuring it aligns with Article 25 and 38 of the 1992 Constitution, which guide our educational objectives."
