Ghanaian lawyer Maurice Ampaw has accused Sammy Gyamfi of mismanaging gold revenues. Gyamfi is the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board.
Ampaw's comments follow public outrage over a viral video. In this video, Gyamfi sprays dollar bills on evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, known as Agradaa.
The video emerged shortly after the 2024 general elections. It has sparked discussions about transparency among high-ranking officials.
On Wontumi Radio, Ampaw expressed his concerns clearly. He asked, “Is our gold money safe under Sammy Gyamfi? No.” He suggested that Gyamfi’s luxurious lifestyle raises questions about state resource management.
Ampaw emphasized the need for accountability. “He doesn’t spend cedis; he is a dollar man,” he said. He called for scrutiny into how Gyamfi earns his money.
“This is called probity,” Ampaw insisted, urging investigation into Gyamfi's finances and lifestyle.
In a spiritual tone, Ampaw warned of divine consequences. He stated, “Stop saying I am sorry; it is God who is punishing you.”
This controversy has increased pressure on President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. Opposition groups and civil society are demanding either Gyamfi’s suspension or an investigation into his actions.
