Atik Mohammed, a policy analyst, has criticized Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
He claims Agyebeng lives lavishly but fails in prosecutions. According to him, Ghana has wasted funds on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Speaking on Asempa FM, Atik said, “We have wasted the country’s funds on the OSP. For all the resources allocated, this is all we get? Sometimes, Ghana makes investments that don’t yield value for money.”
He added that the office was created to fight corruption. However, he noted that Agyebeng has secured only one successful prosecution.
Atik remarked that Agyebeng lives like an Arabian king and has recovered just GH₵100,000. He questioned who fears the OSP now.
He continued by saying there was once fear during Martin Amidu’s tenure. Now, he believes Agyebeng only appears on media to make statements.
“If he loses a case in court,” Atik said, “he returns to media and changes his story.” He criticized Agyebeng's frequent travels and questioned how he can run the office effectively while always flying.
Atik also expressed concern about spending related to Agyebeng's travel and office operations. He asked why Agyebeng did not mention the Juaben MCE case in his updates.
“The law requires full transparency,” Atik stated. “He must update the public on losses and ongoing cases.”
His comments follow Agyebeng's announcement of an INTERPOL red notice for Ken Ofori-Atta. The former Finance Minister is now listed as wanted on INTERPOL’s official website.
Atik called for immediate resignation from the Special Prosecutor due to these issues.
