Akosua Asaa Manu, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, criticized Felix Kwakye Ofosu. He is the spokesperson for President John Mahama. She accused him of fumbling through the AirMed saga with a “confused and incoherent” defense.
During an interview on The Forum with Wilberforce Asare, Manu addressed Kwakye Ofosu’s changing narrative. She expressed concern over his attempts to downplay serious issues in the scandal.
“It is ridiculous for him to say those things,” she stated. “When you lie poorly, everything becomes an afterthought.” She noted that by last Monday, Felix had introduced four planes into the discussion.
Manu suggested that Kwakye Ofosu might represent President Mahama's views directly. “If anyone claims the President is unaware of these issues, I disagree,” she said. “Felix speaks for the President when he talks to us.”
Her comments add to rising political tension around the AirMed issue. The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) faces criticism for being evasive about the controversy's implications.
Manu also raised concerns about Reverend Ntim Fordjour’s treatment by National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) operatives. Reports indicated that a group stormed his home, which she called excessive and intimidating.
“To make an example of Rev Ntim Fordjour—was that a threat?” she asked. “Fifteen to twenty men entered his house while he is a Member of Parliament.”
She questioned claims that the MP was simply “invited” for questioning. Manu highlighted a lack of transparency regarding this situation.
“You say he was invited by the NIB through the Speaker,” she noted. “Where is the letter? We know how they like to release evidence.”
The AirMed controversy continues to unfold and affects recent political discussions. Manu’s remarks reflect NPP frustration with perceived obfuscation and lack of accountability from their opponents.
