Minister for Health, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, reaffirmed the government's commitment to Ghana's health sector. He described the system as needing urgent reform and collective responsibility.
During a presentation at Tamale Teaching Hospital, he emphasized that sustainable healthcare change requires unity. All stakeholders must cooperate and share a commitment to improvement.
The Ministry of Health donated essential medical equipment and supplies. This included ECG machines, ICU ventilators, cardiac monitors, anaesthesia machines, and infant incubators. A total of 35 items were handed over, including Emergency Health Equipment sets and nebuliser sets.
Mr. Akandoh acknowledged the tough conditions healthcare professionals face. He praised their dedication but noted that government efforts alone are not enough to solve systemic issues. “This is a shared responsibility,” he stated.
He urged doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and all health professionals to work together. Efficient use of limited resources is crucial for the well-being of ordinary Ghanaians.
He warned against practices that marginalize the underprivileged due to resource constraints. “Every Ghanaian life is valuable,” he said, stressing that policies must reflect this truth.
The Minister highlighted his leadership style based on humility and respect for health workers. He recognized that change will bring challenges but insisted on dialogue and cooperation for lasting progress.
In light of tensions at Tamale Teaching Hospital, Mr. Akandoh urged striking health professionals to return to work. He called for constructive dialogue with relevant authorities to find effective solutions.
This donation is part of a broader national effort to modernize Ghana’s medical infrastructure and improve healthcare quality across the country.
