A health walk took place in Accra over the weekend. It aimed to raise awareness about non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The event also promoted physical activities for a healthy life.
TNYOU Fitness organized the walk to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Over 300 people participated in the event. It started at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium and went through key streets, ending back at the stadium.
The event was called “the Ghana Health Walk.” It is part of a nationwide campaign promoting physical activity. The campaign also raises awareness about NCDs in Ghana.
Before the walk, TNYOU Fitness founder Mrs. Tracey Sena Yeboah spoke to journalists. She said the initiative responds to alarming health statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO, 43 percent of deaths in Ghana are due to preventable NCDs.
