Help revamp ailing New Times Corporation, GCGL  …ICU urges govt

The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) Ghana is urging the government to recapitalize two media organizations. These are the New Times Corporation (NTC) and the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL).

Both organizations are struggling to survive financially. Staff salaries and benefits have been unpaid for several months.

Mr. Morgan Ayawine, General Secretary of ICU Ghana, made this call in Accra. He spoke during the Accra Regional Council, Youth and Women Conference. He also mentioned that retirement benefits for former staff are still outstanding.

The conference took place on Friday. It elected new officers for the Greater Accra branch of ICU Ghana. This event precedes their 12th National Quadrennial Conference in August this year in Accra.
