The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has confirmed good news. The High Court has withdrawn an arrest warrant against the Director of Passports. This clears the official of any involvement in a case about multiple Ghanaian passports issued to Mr. Dominic Williams.
In a press release on May 23, the Ministry stated that the Director had no connection to this incident. It occurred before they took office on August 19, 2024. “The matter has been fully resolved,” the statement said.
The Ministry emphasized that this incident predates the Director’s tenure. Records show Mr. Dominic Williams got his first Ghanaian passport over twelve years ago. His most recent passport was issued on January 16, 2024, eight months before the current Director began work.
“The Ministry thanks the Judiciary for its swift and impartial handling,” added the statement.
The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability. It assured the public that it is strengthening measures for passport administration integrity in Ghana.
“We continue to enhance internal systems to safeguard passport issuance,” it stated. “The Ministry remains dedicated to serving Ghanaians with professionalism.”
The initial warrant raised public concern and was part of a broader investigation into passport fraud. With this latest development, the Ministry aims to restore public confidence in its leadership and operations.
