High court acquits, discharges Gyakye Quayson

Mr. James Gyakye Quayson, the MP for Assin North, has been acquitted. The High Court in Accra made this decision. Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh presided over the case.

The court found that the prosecution did not prove its charges. Mr. Quayson faced charges of forgery and perjury as well. He was accused of making false declarations on his nomination forms for the 2020 elections.

However, the court ruled that he owed allegiance only to Ghana. Mr. Quayson pleaded not guilty to all three charges against him. On February 16, 2022, he was granted bail of GH¢100,000 with one surety.
