High rate of youth in gambling a cause for concern – GHACOE

The Ghana Congress on Evangelisation (GHACOE) Women’s Ministry is concerned about gambling.

This non-denominational Christian group highlights the rise of betting and lotteries among youth. They believe these activities are harmful to young people.

During the induction of Mrs. Nana Adwoa Insaidoo as the new president, this issue was raised. She is the 5th National President of GHACOE. The Ministry promotes entrepreneurial skills training for vulnerable individuals.

Mrs. Insaidoo emphasizes empowering youth from disadvantaged communities. She aims to create job opportunities and provide guidance and support.

Their mission includes spreading positivity through outreach efforts. She seeks government support to help youth benefit from training programs and reduce unemployment.

In an interview, Theodosia Jackson, Principal of Jackson College of Education, praised GHACOE's impact. She noted their role in reducing unemployment and empowering women through skills training.

The organization began its journey in 1983 with crafts like bead-making and tie-dyeing. They also visit prisons to preach the gospel, donate items, and provide essential skills training.

Mrs. Jackson encourages people to engage in productive activities instead of seeking jobs at prayer centers. She believes using time wisely can lead to better opportunities.

She also criticized the rise of gambling activities that harm young people.
