Seven armed robbers are on the run after a highway robbery. This incident happened on the Kasoa-Winneba road, near Gomoa Potsin in the Central Region.
The attack took place around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday. The robbers blocked the highway and fired multiple gunshots. They then robbed commuters of their belongings.
Eyewitnesses say the robbers stole over 1.7 million CFA francs. They also took an undisclosed amount of Ghana cedis, mobile phones, gold jewellery, and other valuables.
Residents told Adom News that ongoing road construction helped the robbers ambush drivers. Ebo Anderson, a local resident, said the criminals struck twice—first at 11:00 p.m., then again at about 2:00 a.m.
He urged local officials to increase patrols and improve security along the route. The police confirmed they responded to distress calls during the robbery. A source stated that officers from Kasoa arrived after the robbers had escaped.
