Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has urged political leaders to prioritize job creation throughout their tenure rather than making last-minute hires before leaving office.
Speaking on Joy FM on February 28, he warned that delaying employment decisions only creates fiscal burdens for incoming administrations.
“When there’s room to employ, let’s do it. Keeping people unemployed only worsens economic challenges,” Ablakwa stated.
He criticized the practice of ignoring job opportunities while in power, only to rush employment decisions before elections or after losing power.
According to him, responsible governance requires a sustainable approach to job creation to ensure economic stability and reduce financial strain on future administrations.
