Hoefman Laboratories boosts maternal care at Ridge Hospital with equipment donation

Hoefman Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company based in Nice, France, has made a donation to Ridge Hospital. They provided essential medical equipment and nutritional supplements to the Antenatal Unit. This effort aims to improve maternal healthcare in Ghana.

The donated items include a fetal Doppler, a baby weighing scale, and a vital signs monitor. These tools are crucial for monitoring temperature, blood pressure, and fetal development. Hospital officials believe this equipment will enhance care for pregnant women.

“Our goal is to reduce pregnancy-related complications,” said Benjamin Appiah Ameyaw. He is the Country Manager for Hoefman Laboratories. He emphasized improving outcomes for both mothers and babies during the presentation.

The company also donated its Vivagest supplements, which support women's health. Mr. Ameyaw explained that these supplements contain folic acid, vitamin D3, iodine, omega-3, vitamin B12, and vitamin E. These nutrients are important for fertility and healthy fetal development.

“We are committed to supporting women,” he added. He hopes to extend donations to other facilities across the country.

Staff at Ridge Hospital welcomed the donation as timely and impactful. Martey Felicia is the Principal Midwifery Officer at the Antenatal Unit. She noted that frequent equipment breakdowns have disrupted services and increased wait times.

“Some devices malfunction over time,” she explained. “This donation will help us work more efficiently.”

Felicia advised pregnant women against self-medication and unhealthy habits. She urged them to consult health professionals regularly for safe deliveries.

“This initiative supports our mission to enhance maternal health systems across Africa,” said Mr. Ameyaw.
