Kwame Andy Appiah-Kubi, MP for Asante Akim North, has called for unity. He urged leaders from the NDC and NPP to work together. Their goal should be to resolve the ongoing conflict in Bawku.
Speaking on TV3's The Key Points on April 12, he emphasized a united political front. He believes peace in Bawku should go beyond party lines.
Appiah-Kubi said, “If politicians will come in, they must hold hands.” He wants them to show that violence is not beneficial for anyone.
He also appealed directly to the youth of Bawku. He urged them to choose peace over violence and revenge.
“My prayer to the young people of Bawku is that conflicts must end,” he stated.
He highlighted how ongoing conflict affects development in the region. Sustained violence only worsens marginalization and hinders progress.
“When there is conflict, roads cannot be fixed,” he explained. “Electricity connections cannot happen, and traders fear attacks.” Teachers also struggle to work in unsafe areas, he added.
