How NSS payroll fraud was allegedly plotted & executed

Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, revealed the intricate details of a massive fraud scheme at the National Service Authority, where "ghost names" were used to inflate the number of service personnel from 2018 to 2024.

The fraudulent activity began as early as the 2018-2019 National Service year, with discrepancies growing year by year.

In 2022-2023 alone, the state lost GH¢429 million, and by 2024-2025, the total loss could have reached GH¢2.2 billion.

President Mahama has called for an investigation into the operation of the fraudulent payroll.
