How does Bawumia’s comment amount to shifting blame? – Nana Akomea asks

Nana Akomea, former Deputy Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team, has responded to Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah. Boakye-Danquah accused Bawumia of avoiding responsibility for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

Akomea questioned how Bawumia's comments could be seen as shifting blame. He also asked who Bawumia was supposedly blaming for the NPP’s loss.

During a thank-you tour, Akomea noted that Bawumia did not shift any blame. He was discussing Professor Mike Ocquaye's committee report at the time.

Boakye-Danquah criticized Bawumia for portraying himself as a “driver’s mate.” He argued that Bawumia is a key architect of the government’s economic policies.

Boakye-Danquah claimed that Bawumia's remarks about "arrogance of power" target former President Akufo-Addo. He suggested that Bawumia is trying to rewrite his legacy by scapegoating others.

In response, Akomea expressed surprise at Boakye-Danquah's claims. He emphasized that during his interactions on the Thank You Tour, Bawumia did not shift blame.

At a meeting in Takoradi on April 26, Bawumia addressed Professor Ocquaye's committee report. The report did not identify religion as a major factor in the NPP’s loss.

Speculations suggested that voters stayed away due to Bawumia being Muslim. However, the Ocquaye committee found no significant evidence supporting this claim.

Akomea pointed out that after acknowledging difficulties reported by party members, Bawumia apologized to them. This theme of acknowledgment and apology was echoed by General Secretary Justin Kodua and Kennedy Agyapong.

Bawumia stated that he recognized what party members said about their shortcomings. Akomea questioned how this could be interpreted as shifting blame or who it would be shifted to.
