How will he feed himself, is he going to steal from us? – Solomon Owusu on Mahama’s six-month salary donation

Solomon Owusu, a member of the Movement for Change, questioned President John Dramani Mahama. He asked how Mahama plans to feed himself after donating six months of his salary to the Mahama Cares fund.

Owusu pointed out that former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta claimed he did not receive a salary. However, Ofori-Atta gained wealth through his bank, Databank.

Mahama pledged six months of his salary to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund during its launch at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on April 29, 2025. He mentioned that Prof. Ayetey donated $1,000 to encourage others to contribute.

Mahama stated he has not started receiving a salary yet. The Accountant General is still processing it. Once completed, he will donate six months of whatever he earns to Mahama Cares.

In response, Solomon Owusu expressed skepticism on Onua TV. He said he does not want to hear about Mahama's donation. He emphasized that taxpayers pay the president to work and questioned how Mahama will support himself.

Owusu asked if Mahama would resort to stealing from citizens. He recalled claims about Ken Ofori-Atta amassing wealth while claiming no salary.

He continued by questioning why Mahama would give away his salary when he is paid to be president. Owusu also referenced a past incident where Mahama received a car and claimed it was donated to the state.

He concluded by asking how Mahama would survive without bribes or other income sources.
