I'll come after you if you engage in crime - AG warns current public officeholders

Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has issued a strong warning to public officeholders. He will prosecute anyone involved in corruption or financial crimes while in office.

At a press conference on Monday, Dr. Ayine stated he would not wait for officials to leave before taking action. His warning coincided with an update on the Operation for Recover All Loot (ORAL) team's investigations into financial mismanagement from the previous administration.

Dr. Ayine specifically mentioned former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu Boahene. He accused Adu Boahene of laundering over $7 million and embezzling state funds.

Adu Boahene allegedly funneled money through real estate investments in Accra. Investigators believe he also acquired properties abroad using suspected illicit funds.

He reportedly set up a private company to divert government contracts for personal gain. Adu Boahene served as Deputy Director-General before leading the NSB from 2017 to 2025 and is currently under investigation.

Dr. Ayine condemned the level of corruption during the previous administration, stating, "The country was turned into a crime scene for eight years."
