Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi is the NPP MP for Anyaa-Sowutuom. He feels cautiously optimistic about the Ghanaian cedi's recent performance. He urges Ghanaians to consider the broader economic context behind this appreciation.
In an interview on GHOne TV, Dr. Kissi noted the cedi's positive turn in recent weeks. He believes this progress benefits everyone, regardless of political views. “I’m happy if the cedi is performing well,” he said.
However, he warned that the currency's performance results from many factors. It should not be viewed in isolation. He emphasized the need for honest discussions with the public.
Dr. Kissi criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). He recalled that in 2017, when NPP took power, the dollar performed well for nearly a year. The NDC credited this improvement to their 2016 policies.
He argued that current successes should also be linked to NPP initiatives. “When we assumed power in 2017, they reminded us of their actions,” he stated.
He added that ideas like reserving more gold are not new but have been reiterated recently.
