I’m here to thank you like the leprosy man in the Bible – Wontumi tells Bryan Acheampong

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, is known as Chairman Wontumi. He thanked Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the former Minister of Food and Agriculture, for helping him with his bail conditions.

Chairman Wontumi was released from EOCO custody on June 2. He met his bail requirement of GHS 50 million. Wontumi was arrested after visiting the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on May 27.

Bryan Acheampong helped secure Wontumi's release by providing necessary documents. Chairman Wontumi expressed deep gratitude for this assistance. He compared his situation to the story of ten lepers healed by Jesus, where only one returned to thank Him.

In a video shared on X, he said, “Showing gratitude is very important in life.” He noted that even Jesus acknowledged this importance. Wontumi stated he could have called but wanted to show respect in person.

He added that he cherishes what Acheampong has done for him. He also thanked party supporters for their love during difficult days.

Chairman Wontumi is expected to report to EOCO on June 4, 2025, for further questioning. His lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, confirmed this schedule on Neat FM’s morning show. Wontumi will return again on Monday, June 9, 2025.
