Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo is the new acting CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). He aims to enhance the hospital's capacity to meet client expectations. He stated, “I have no personal agenda. I want to work with all stakeholders.”
Dr. Baidoo spoke during his first meeting with the management team on Wednesday. He was appointed by the President and confirmed by the hospital's Board on Monday. He emphasized teamwork and an open-door policy for better operations.
“As the only tertiary hospital in this region, we must work together,” he said. Dr. Baidoo received a warm welcome from his management team. Directors pledged their support for his leadership.
A presentation briefed him on the hospital's current state and challenges. The acting CEO also met with staff from the General Administration Unit. This meeting aimed to build a strong working relationship with administrative personnel.
Dr. Baidoo thanked staff for their warm reception since he took office. He highlighted teamwork as essential for quality healthcare delivery. Staff can approach him anytime with suggestions or proposals.
Mr. Atta Tweneboah Jnr., head of the unit, welcomed Dr. Baidoo on behalf of staff members. He expressed commitment to supporting Dr. Baidoo’s vision for KATH.
Staff introduced themselves and shared optimism about future leadership under Dr. Baidoo’s approachable style and openness to dialogue.
Before this role, Dr. Baidoo was a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at KATH and led its Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate. He also chaired the Ashanti Regional division of the Ghana Medical Association.
He succeeds Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, who served as CEO from December 2022 until April 2025, marking a new leadership era at KATH.
