”I almost gave up” Amenfi Central MP opens up about emotional struggle ahead of election victory

Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the MP for Amenfi Central, shared her struggles before winning her seat. She spoke at a Thanksgiving service at the Christian Believers Prayer Ministry International in Mamfe, Akuapim.

Hon. Joana recounted intense legal battles and attempts by opponents to undermine her. She expressed that the trauma nearly made her give up on her dreams of serving in Parliament.

Despite these challenges, she remained committed to developing her community. The legal issues felt "almost impossible to win" but tested her resolve and faith in God.

Ultimately, her resilience paid off. She overcame obstacles and won the 2024 parliamentary elections.

"I'm overwhelmed with gratitude to God," she said emotionally. "It's not by my might, but by God's grace that I've emerged victorious." She promised to work hard for her constituents.

She also thanked Brother Emmanuel Nkansah, the church's founder and leader, for his support over two decades.

Recalling a dark moment during her campaign, Hon. Joana described a court hearing in Accra. Even experienced political allies lost hope that day.

"I was told I wasn't eligible to contest," she said sadly. "But thanks to God’s perfect plan, I was cleared just six days before the elections."

Her story highlights the unseen struggles candidates face, especially women in politics. It shows how faith and perseverance can lead to success.

The people of Amenfi Central have already seen some of her initiatives underway. These include establishing a block factory and clearing sites for a new university.

She is also providing monthly stipends for tertiary students and supporting women in vegetable farming projects. These efforts reflect her commitment to improving lives in her constituency.

In closing, Honorable Joana Gyan Cudjoe expressed deep gratitude to Reverend Emmanuel Nkansah and all who supported her during tough times.

She pledged to collaborate with others to meet developmental needs and ensure constituents' voices are heard in Parliament.

With determination and purpose, she looks forward to serving Amenfi Central with integrity.
