“I am happy the NPP is preparing to bring Dr Bawumia back” – Edudzi Tameklo

Edudzi Tamekloe is the acting CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). He expressed happiness about the NPP's plan to bring back Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their presidential candidate for 2028.

Tamekloe questioned what Bawumia would say to voters. He noted that President Mahama has abolished both the e-levy and the betting tax. He asked, "What will they say now?"

He praised the 2025 budget for stabilizing the Ghanaian cedi. Tamekloe had concerns about potential instability but noted relative stability instead. He mentioned ongoing engagement with IMF officials and positive reports from Ato Forson in Washington.

His comments followed Dr. Bawumia's acknowledgment of challenges during an NPP “Thank You Tour.” Bawumia admitted that hardship, arrogance, and poor decisions led to their defeat.

During a speech in Takoradi on April 26, he highlighted key issues raised by citizens. These included high living costs, government arrogance, and debt restructuring problems. Bawumia also mentioned calls for ministerial reshuffles that were ignored.

He criticized the government's failure to deliver on promises like no haircuts during debt restructuring. Additionally, he pointed out unpaid programs like NABCO and afforestation initiatives.

Bawumia emphasized that many regions where they received votes lacked development. He concluded by stating that the NPP is not united heading into the 2024 elections.
