Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the MP for Assin South, is not intimidated by the government's actions against him. He commented on two suspicious AIRMED aircraft that landed in Ghana recently.
Fordjour, who is also the Ranking Member on the Defense and Interior Committee, spoke at a minority press conference on April 1, 2025. He alleged that these aircraft might be involved in money laundering and drug trafficking. He called for an investigation into the matter.
On April 9, 2025, operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) attempted to arrest him at home. This attempt was thwarted by the minority Caucus and NPP leadership.
In an interview on Joy FM's Top Story, Fordjour expressed he is unfazed by recent events. He stated that fulfilling his duties is a constitutional mandate.
When asked if he feels intimidated, he replied, “Not at all. I am doing my job.” He emphasized that he exercises parliamentary oversight sincerely and carefully.
Fordjour mentioned he has not yet discussed with anyone whether the NIB sent a letter to Parliament about interrogating him.
He noted that discussions about this will happen later but stressed they are continuing their duties without fear.
He criticized how armed individuals allegedly from the NIB invaded his home without a warrant.
It remains unclear if Speaker Bagbin has received any official communication from the NIB regarding Fordjour's arrest and interrogation.
The Speaker has not yet responded to the minority caucus’s petition concerning the botched arrest.
