I apologize to all Ghanaians – Bawumia renders

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former vice president, has apologized to Ghanaians. He is the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.

Bawumia acknowledged that the NPP accomplished much during its time in office. However, he also admitted that they made significant mistakes.

Speaking in London, he said, “The NPP did a lot of work, but we did not get everything right.” He continued, “I apologize on my own behalf and on behalf of the party and government.”

He expressed hope for future improvements if given another chance. Bawumia believes they have learned valuable lessons from past experiences.

In addition, he announced plans for the NPP to elect its 2028 presidential candidate by January next year. He noted that the NPP elected its 2024 candidate too late in November.

This delay gave John Mahama an advantage as he was already campaigning for the NDC. Bawumia explained that internal divisions made reconciliation difficult after their elections.

He stated, “We elected our presidential candidate a bit late... Mahama had already toured the country.” This situation left little time for healing within party ranks.

Now, Bawumia says they are working on a proposal to complete all elections by January at the latest. This plan aims to give them three years to prepare for the 2028 elections and allow time for reconciliation within constituencies.
