I delivered all monies to NSB office, not Adu-Boahene’s home - AG witness

A key witness in the case against Kwabena Adu-Boahene has testified. Frank Anane Dekpey, a former driver at the National Signal Bureau (NSB), spoke in court on Tuesday. He stated that all money he withdrew was delivered to the NSB office in Labone. He did not deliver any funds to Adu-Boahene’s home.

Dekpey regularly handled banking errands for his superiors. He withdrew large sums of money and took them directly to the NSB premises. His statement emphasized, “At no point did I deliver any of the withdrawn monies to Mr. Adu-Boahene’s house.”

He mentioned that Mildred Donkor often instructed him to handle transactions at UMB Bank and Stanbic Bank. The money would then be taken to the NSB office.

“I usually send the money to A1 at the NSB office near Metro TV,” Dekpey said. He also collected money from UMB Bank's Labone branch and made deposits at Stanbic Bank's Airport branch.

“I do not recall ever sending the money I withdrew to A2,” he added. Dekpey confirmed he never took any money from Mrs. Adu-Boahene.

Edith Ruby Opokua Adumuah, NSB's Director of Finance, supported Dekpey's testimony. She explained her role as custodian of BNC’s cheque books. She wrote cheques for large amounts based on instructions from Adu-Boahene.

On March 18, 2020, she wrote a cheque for One Million Ghana cedis (GH¢1,000,000). On March 30, she wrote another for Twenty-One Million Ghana Cedis (GH¢21,000,000). Both cheques were drawn on BNC’s account at Fidelity Bank.

Adumuah noted that all cheques from 2018 to 2020 were authorized by Joshua Kyeremeh, not Adu-Boahene. She stated that operational accounts were managed by BNC's director under Kyeremeh's supervision.

“I complied with A1’s directive,” she said, believing it was an additional operational account she could not access. Adumuah identified several cheque copies for the court: GH¢27,100,000; GH¢1,000,000; and GH¢21,000,000.
