I deserve to see the petitions against me – Chief Justice to Mahama

Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has reached out to President John Mahama. She also contacted the Council of State.

In her letter dated March 27, she requested copies of petitions for her removal. She is concerned about not having access to these documents. The Presidency has confirmed that the petitions exist.

Torkornoo believes she should know the allegations against her. She argues that she deserves a chance to respond.

She stated, “No consideration affecting a defendant's rights can occur without notice.” This principle is vital in common law and constitutional justice.

Her request raises concerns about transparency in this process. The President and the Council of State now face an important decision.
