Vicent Ekow Assafuah, the MP for Old Tafo, spoke about Kwabena Adu Boahene. He said he did not know Adu Boahene until Dr. Dominic Ayine mentioned him. Dr. Ayine is the Minister for Justice and Attorney General.
Assafuah appeared on JoyNews' AM Show on Tuesday. This was a day after the AG's press conference on alleged corruption. He noted that although Adu Boahene worked under his government, he had never heard of him.
"Until yesterday, I had not even heard of Kwabena," he stated. "I don’t even know him, despite his role as CEO or Director-General."
He condemned the alleged crimes and emphasized his stance against corruption. "I will never support anyone involved in corrupt activities," he said.
Dr. Dominic Ayine accused Adu-Boahene of embezzling millions of dollars. These funds were meant for a cyber defense project but were diverted into real estate investments in Accra and abroad.
Adu-Boahene allegedly used a private company with his wife to siphon funds from a government contract. This led to significant personal wealth over the years.
Authorities have compiled a list of properties and bank transactions linked to these allegations. They suspect these assets were acquired through fraudulent means.
Assafuah urged others not to defend Adu Boahene if the allegations are proven true.
