“I didn’t expect you to attack me!” – Afenyo-Markin ‘cries’ over Muntaka ‘spoilt child’ jab

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader of Parliament, responded to Muntaka Mubarak. Mubarak is the MP for Asawase Constituency and Minister of Interior. He called Afenyo-Markin a "spoilt child."

Afenyo-Markin did not expect this attack from Muntaka. Muntaka criticized him for ignoring parliamentary rules. He claimed Afenyo-Markin speaks without following proper procedures.

On June 3, 2025, during a parliamentary session, Muntaka expressed his concerns. He said that once a matter is referred to a committee, members should not speak about it. They must present their arguments in the committee instead.

Muntaka added that Afenyo-Markin was disrupting the House's order. He described him as behaving like a spoilt child who lost his food. Muntaka urged the Speaker to bring Afenyo-Markin to order.

In response, an upset Afenyo-Markin accused Muntaka of unnecessary attacks. He stated he respects Muntaka but disagrees with his choice of words.

Afenyo-Markin explained that he was trying to highlight a lack of communication before the meeting. He mentioned whispers from both the Majority Leader and Energy Minister about upcoming discussions.

He defended himself by saying he always seeks recognition before speaking in Parliament. Afenyo-Markin expressed disappointment at being attacked by someone he respects.

He acknowledged that as Minority Leader, such attacks are expected. He accepted this as part of his role and left it to posterity to judge Muntaka's actions.
