Convener of the Fix the Country Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has condemned the National Investigations Bureau’s (NIB) decision to summon Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.
Barker-Vormawor argued that using state security agencies to suppress political speech sets a dangerous precedent, even if the individual in question holds controversial views.
In a Facebook post, he stated, “I disagree with any attempts to use the state security resources to muzzle; even people we find disagreeable or who may by their politics disgust you.”
Abronye has been invited by the NIB to substantiate allegations that President John Mahama withheld GH₵550 million meant for dismissed appointees at Jubilee House. He is expected to appear before the Bureau on February 26, 2025.
Barker-Vormawor warned against politically motivated intimidation, insisting that “Speech rights protect displeasant speech. Let the civil process cure injurious speech; not a BNI officer!”
