Stonebwoy congratulated King Promise for winning Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards. However, he has not received a response from King Promise. An interview with Hitz FM indicates that King Promise may not reply.
When asked about Stonebwoy's message on X, King Promise said he had heard about it. He mentioned he hadn't seen it and didn't consider it important. "I don't want to talk about it," he stated in an interview with DJ Slim and Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz.
In his post, Stonebwoy wrote: "Congratulations @IamKingPromise on your win and your debut entry into the league of AOTY winners. You're Welcome."
Last year, both artists competed for the top award at the 2024 TGMA, but Stonebwoy won. The competition intensified in 2025 with King Paluta also nominated.
This year, King Promise beat Stonebwoy and others to win Artiste of the Year. He also won Afropop Song of the Year for 'Paris', Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year, and Album of the Year for 'True to Self'.
Stonebwoy won Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and other awards including Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year for 'Psalm 23' and Best Music Video.
Some believe King Promise might be returning Stonebwoy's silence from last year after his own victory. Others feel that Stonebwoy's tone seemed condescending in his congratulatory message.
