In an interview on Channel One TV, Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A Plus, discussed his political journey. He talked about his fallout with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A Plus explained that he admired former president Nana Akufo-Addo. “I grew up liking Nana,” he said. He felt that Akufo-Addo understood and appreciated his music.
“I wanted to see him succeed when he ran for president,” A Plus added. However, he clarified that he hasn’t fallen out with the NPP. “If I’m angry, it’s normal, but there’s no reason to make it a bigger issue.”
He denied rumors of seeking personal gain. “If I wanted something, it wasn’t because I didn’t get it,” A Plus stated. He emphasized that he never asked for anything that would compromise his honesty.
A Plus also spoke about his brief time as an oil executive. He revealed that despite expectations, he couldn’t stop speaking out. “They gave me a job, but one month in, they said I was talking too much and took their job away,” he shared.
Looking ahead, A Plus expressed confidence in his current party affiliation. “I’m a member of the majority party now and enjoying my time with them.”
He believes in their leadership and mentioned having no enemies within the parties. Reflecting on his future ambitions, A Plus laughed and said, “If I want to be president someday, let’s see.” He concluded by saying life is in God’s hands.
