Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, a former MP for Odododiodoo, has spoken out. He stated he does not miss Parliament. He has no plans to return.
Vanderpuye described his last term as disappointing. He was eager for it to end so he could leave.
In an interview on GHONE TV, he said, “My last term was the worst of my twelve years.” He expressed disillusionment with Parliament. His political goals and principles were not fulfilled during his time there.
Now the National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Vanderpuye shared more insights. He witnessed many things in Parliament that conflicted with his values. Despite this, he felt compelled to participate due to institutional demands.
He often struggled internally about being in Parliament. Each morning brought a conflict between his spiritual and physical self. He questioned if he belonged there and if it was the right place for him.
Vanderpuye reflected on how his aspirations were unmet. His interest in being an MP and understanding of their responsibilities were shattered during 2017-2024.
