I empathise, but stay off Ramsar Sites – Linda Ocloo shares after massive demolition

Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has urged residents to avoid the Ramsar Site at Lashibi. She emphasized that the demolition is necessary to protect the area and prevent future conflicts.

“I empathize with those affected by the demolitions,” she said. This statement came after a media briefing monitored by MyNewsGH. “But they should stay off the Ramsar site for our safety.”

The demolition involved support from the military, police, and local authorities. It targeted unauthorized structures within the Ramsar reserve. Minister Ocloo praised everyone involved in this effort.

“Today has been a wonderful day,” she noted. She thanked the military, police, and media for their contributions. However, she acknowledged that many buildings still need to be demolished.

Ocloo also appealed to local traditional authorities for help with land issues. “I plead with the Achis to assist in relocating landowners,” she said. “This will help us all live peacefully in our country.”
