I go to the bank with a big Ghana MUST Go bag for the money – Adu Boahene’s errand boy tells court

Frank Anane Dekpey is an errand assistant for Adu-Boahene and his associates. He told the court he often went to the bank with a large Ghana MUST Go bag for money.

Dekpey said he was directed to a specific bank staff member who cashed cheques. He usually delivered the money to Adu-Boahene's office in Labone. Mildred Boateng, an associate of Adu-Boahene, often sent him to deposit or withdraw money at UMB or Stanbic.

He stated that he does not remember sending any withdrawn money to Angela Adjei-Boateng, Adu-Boahene's wife. Kwabena Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela, and another person face charges from the state. They are charged with stealing, defrauding by false pretenses, money laundering, and conspiracy.

The charge sheet claims they stole GHc 49 million in state funds. The Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, filed 11 charges against them at the High Court in Accra. The Office of the Attorney General has submitted witness statements in this case.

These statements include testimonies from Frank Marshall Crowell, the case investigator; Edith Ruby Adumuah; and Frank Anane Dekpey. Recently, the former National Signals Bureau boss claimed that part of the stolen funds was used for questionable purchases.

He alleged that GHc 5.1 million was spent on three vehicles for President John Mahama. This included a 2024 Nissan Patrol Platinum and a Land Cruiser GXR from 2022. Additionally, he claimed GHc 960,000 was used to pay members of Parliament.

This payment aimed to expedite the passage of the National Signals Bureau Act (2020). The former Director also accused an opposition political party of receiving GHc 8.3 million from these alleged stolen funds.
