Veteran journalist and former Minister for Information, Fritz Baffour, is worried about Ghana's excessive politicisation. He urges leaders to focus on national unity and development.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show, Mr. Baffour called for cooperation among politicians. He believes they should work together for the country's benefit instead of engaging in conflicts.
“We are all cordial outside the chamber,” he said. “We should extend that inside as well.”
He noted that Ghana is a developing country, not a developed one. Therefore, collaboration is essential; fighting each other will not help.
Mr. Baffour criticized the influence of politics in neutral institutions. He argued that political interference hinders effective decision-making.
“I hate the politicisation of Ghana,” he stated. “Politics should not cloud certain institutions.”
He emphasized the need for political unity to avoid stalling progress. Without collaboration, he warned that the country would struggle to move forward.
“Different positions exist, but we must show unity,” he said. “If we don’t, this country is not going to be saved.”
Mr. Baffour also discussed mismanagement of Ghana’s resources and human capital. He believes economic struggles stem from poor handling of resources and contracts.
"This country is wonderful," he said. "We are in a horrible state due to mismanagement."
He pointed out issues with how contracts and resources are handled in Ghana. There is a lack of respect for human resources and inadequate policies to support them effectively.
