Dr. Tony Aubynn, CEO of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), has denied reports of staff layoffs.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he clarified that no employees were sacked. Instead, some staff members left after not meeting probation expectations.
“I have not sacked anyone. It’s just a normal HR process,” he said. Employees are placed on probation when recruited. If their performance is unsatisfactory, they may leave at the end of this period.
Dr. Aubynn emphasized that the departures were based on professional assessments from Human Resources. “Only about five people have left,” he noted.
He explained that probation helps both employers and employees assess job suitability. “If you are not fit for the job, you can be asked to leave,” he added.
Dr. Aubynn urged the public to ignore claims of mass dismissals at PHDC.
