I hope Mahama's reset doesn’t lead Ghana back to a military era - Egyapa Mercer

Former Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, condemned the attempted arrest of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. He called it a disturbing display of lawlessness.

The incident happened on April 8 and has caused public backlash. Many people are questioning the legality and motives behind the attempted arrest.

On JoyNews' Newsfile programme on April 12, Mr. Mercer expressed disbelief about the situation. He stated, “I have read Ntim Fordjour’s press statement three times. I am still at a loss as to what crime he committed.”

He warned against actions that could undermine Ghana’s democratic principles and freedoms.

Mercer asked, “What kind of lawlessness is this?” He expressed concern about a potential regression in governance under the new administration.

His comments add to growing criticism of the NIB's conduct. Many view it as a dangerous encroachment on parliamentary privileges and civil liberties.
