I inherited an empty warehouse – NADMO Boss

The Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Major (Rtd) Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon, recently spoke about his challenges. He inherited an empty warehouse from his predecessor when he took office.

In an interview with TV3, Dr. Kuyon said he had to act quickly. He needed to restock supplies for potential disasters during the rainy season.

"I inherited an empty warehouse," he stated. "I engaged trusted suppliers for buffer stock due to anticipated disasters."

Dr. Kuyon mentioned that NADMO is working to reaffirm contracts with suppliers. He asked them to temporarily help by stocking essential items in the warehouse.

"Let’s put a few things in place while we formalize your contracts," he urged.

Additionally, Dr. Kuyon revealed that a committee has been formed to audit NADMO's stores and transport units. He warned that anyone involved in malpractice will face legal consequences.

"When I take over an office, I investigate for wrongdoing," he explained. "My main focus is ensuring the organization remains functional."

He assured the public that ongoing audits aim to promote accountability and efficiency within NADMO's operations.
