I knew the NDC would disappoint – Nana B blasts Mahama’s early leadership

Henry Nana Boakye, known as Nana B, is the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s early performance. He claims the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is failing Ghanaians just four months into its term.

“I knew the NDC would disappoint, but not this early,” Nana B said. He expressed his dismay on the Asaase Breakfast Show. He pointed to a growing list of unfulfilled promises and policy reversals.

Nana B highlighted worsening environmental issues and poor economic management. He accused the government of prioritizing appearances over real action. “Waters are drying up, pollution is worse, yet they fail to act,” he stated.

He noted that despite repealing some levies, utility costs have risen. Electricity tariffs increased by 14%, while water tariffs went up by 4%. “You scrap some taxes and then raise utility costs. Ghanaians are worse off now,” he added.

Nana B also criticized the NDC for betraying its own standards from when it was in opposition. “They held press conferences on riverbanks; now they do so in five-star hotels,” he remarked. “This is all about optics, not action.”

In defending the previous NPP administration's legacy, he praised the gold-for-oil program initiated by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. “That’s a bold legacy of the NPP, not this government,” he asserted. He argued that any economic stability should not be credited to the current administration.

Despite his criticisms, Nana B remains optimistic about his party's future. “We are listening, learning, and preparing to bounce back,” he said. This hints at a possible resurgence for the NPP in upcoming years.
