I’m deeply saddened by the Kantamanto Market fire – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed profound sorrow over the devastating January 2 fire that ravaged Accra's Kantamanto Market, leaving many traders’ livelihoods in ruins.

Addressing Parliament during his final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025, President Akufo-Addo described the incident as “deeply shocking” and extended heartfelt sympathies to those affected.

“Government stands with you,” he assured, pledging collaboration with agencies to investigate the fire's causes and provide support to affected traders.

The President emphasized unity and compassion in overcoming the tragedy, urging Ghanaians to assist the victims in rebuilding their lives.

“Together, we can extend a helping hand to our fellow Ghanaians during this challenging time,” he said.
