I’m no longer bothered by sensationalised headlines – Kidi

Ghanaian music star Kidi has developed a thick skin for media headlines. He shared his experiences during an interview on The Chat with Ekow Koomson on Channel One TV.

Kidi has been in the spotlight for nearly a decade. He reflected on his early days in the music industry. At that time, he struggled with how the media portrayed him.

He found many headlines exaggerated or taken out of context. These sensational stories often aimed to attract clicks and stir controversy. Over time, Kidi learned how the media operates, especially in entertainment.

He noted that buzz and virality often matter more than accuracy. “When I see sensationalized headlines, I laugh,” he said. Initially, these headlines troubled him greatly.

Kidi explained that he didn’t understand the need for sensationalism at first. Now, he realizes that new stories will emerge soon enough.

His comments referenced a notable incident from 2021. That year, he was nominated for Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). The award went to gospel singer Diana Hamilton instead.

This sparked speculation and controversial headlines about Kidi's reaction. Reports claimed he "stormed out" of the auditorium in anger after losing. This narrative gained widespread attention and stirred debate among fans and pundits alike.
