Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as Napo, is the Minister of Energy. He has denied claims that he wants to be the NPP's flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
Napo stated, “My immediate interest now is to unite the party.” He added, “No, I’m not running in 2028.”
He highlighted the need for unity within the party after recent tensions. Napo stressed respecting internal decisions and reports guiding the party’s direction.
He warned dissenters: “If you don’t want to obey what the report says, you don’t want to be a member of the party.” He emphasized that individual opinions mean little compared to collective decisions.
Napo acknowledged skeptics but insisted that when a majority decides, they will follow the report.
In a lighter moment, he responded humorously to comedian OB Amponsah. The comedian had joked about him during a sold-out show.
“Thanks for using my name to fill halls but bring my commission,” Napo quipped.
He expressed happiness that his name was being used for free publicity. However, he joked about having his lawyers contact Amponsah to share any proceeds since he is currently unemployed.
Napo’s comments clarify his political stance and showcase his sense of humor.
