Kwame Baffoe, known as Abronye DC, is the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has announced he may leave the NPP to confront Kennedy Agyapong. Agyapong is a former presidential candidate aspirant.
Abronye DC said Agyapong attacked him and later apologized. However, Agyapong resumed his attacks on Wednesday. Abronye stated that Agyapong's comments mark the end for him in the NPP.
Abronye expressed his readiness to fight Agyapong. He claimed he would even leave the party if necessary. "I will show him I’m more of a man than he is," he declared.
He accused Agyapong of paying NDC media outlets to publish damaging documents against Akufo-Addo’s family. This was allegedly done to sway voters against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 elections.
Abronye said, “Ask Kennedy how he met with NDC media houses.” He believes Agyapong wants him silent because of his wealth and influence. "I will fight him until he regrets picking a fight with me," Abronye added.
He criticized Agyapong for taking control of the NPP due to his wealth. Abronye stated that poor members should also have a voice in the party. He vowed to challenge Agyapong until he understands this.
His comments followed an incident during an NPP nationwide “Thank You Tour.” Abronye addressed allegations against him regarding political plots before last year's internal elections.
He questioned those preaching unity within the party while having previously caused division. Additionally, Abronye rejected Agyapong's proposal for amnesty for suspended members.
He argued that granting amnesty would promote indiscipline within the party. In response, Kennedy Agyapong took offense at Abronye's remarks and called him a "poor man with confidence."
Agyapong stated that some people act tough but cannot contribute financially to the party. He emphasized that not everyone can speak freely without fear or shame.
Kennedy added, “I have money; I don’t beg.” He warned that if provoked, there could be serious consequences for those who challenge him.
The conflict between these two leaders highlights ongoing tensions within the NPP as they prepare for upcoming elections.
